The Village Turners

Who are we

The membership is made up of a collection of people from all walks of life, of differing ages and woodturning abilities, but all with an enthusiasm for making round things from wood.

Not only does the club draw members from Peterborough, it draws them from quite a large
surrounding area as well, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Rutland and Leicestershire.

We have a number of lathes set up for hands on tuition and demonstrations either by club members or
professional turners in our purpose built workshop. All club meetings are run on an informal basis with refreshments provided at a minimal cost. As a club we offer help and advice & a hands on approach to improve your wood turning ability.

For details of fees and how to find us please see the Contact page. As a member, you will receive a warm welcome from the existing members.

Diversity:

The Club is open to anyone with an interest in learning or improving their abilities in the art of woodturning.

We endeavour to make our workshop as safe and diverse as possible. However, it must be remembered that wood turning lathes can be extremely dangerous wood working machines.

Generally an individual needs to be able to stand for a period of time, although we are able to offer a seated alternative for those with mobility issues. (Please contact us for advice). They need good hand - eye co-ordination, they need good visual accuity.  They need to have good mental awareness and be open to advice and instruction from more experienced members.

The club will always try to accomodate individuals with special needs wherever possible.

For more information please contact the club secretary.
